W@W: Buster In Blue (silent film/original music)

For the January edition of WYCE at Wealthy, we present "Buster In Blue", a screening of a classic Buster Keaton silent film, accompanied LIVE by an original score from local band Blue Dahlia.

The film, "The General" stars Keaton as a Confederate railroad engineer who has two loves-- his girl, and his engine. Blue Dahlia will create the music for the film that will transport you into the story, steaming along with a groove inspired by The Meters, Edgar Allen... (read more)

Fiction Family

At first glance, the members of Fiction Family couldn't seem more different. There's Jon Foreman of power-pop rockers Switchfoot, whose growling guitars and surfer-boy melodies have sold over five million records worldwide. And there's Sean Watkins, recently of genre-spanning folk group Nickel Creek, whose 2003 record, This Side, won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. The Blind Boys Of Alabama

The history of the Blind Boys of Alabama is sketchy at best, but there's no doubting the clarity of where they are today. Formed sometime in the late 1930's at the Talladega Institute for the Deaf and Blind in Alabama, the Blind Boys spent fifty years traveling the gospel circuits of the southern United States, playing in churches for often-segregated crowds and inspiring the likes of Bobby “Blue” Bland and the late Marvin Gaye. Reggae Legends Birthday Bash

The Reggae Legends Birthday Bash is a tribute concert, in honor of the late Bob Marley's birthday. The show features local reggae musicians performing some of Marley's best-known material, as well as original reggae, dub and island musical styles.
